Engage Lanka is run by a group of enthusiastic individuals who hold the common vision of service through the sharing of culture, language and skills.

Ours is a not-for-profit organization whose funds will be used for community projects in Sri Lanka.

We provide volunteers with opportunities to LEARN about the Buddhist way of life and to be engaged in active discussion with eminent Buddhist scholars in Sri Lanka. Tailored courses can be arranged through Peradeniya University on a variety of areas from Sri Lankan and South Asian history to Pali language, all from leading academics.

You’ll be engaged in various community activities throughout the volunteer period in which you’ll be able to GROW as a human being in far reaching ways you never thought possible. Previous volunteer groups have spent time teaching English, Computing, Australiana and whatever else they could, to novice Buddhist monks at the prestigious Mahapola Bhikkhu Education Institute (MBEI).

Once settled in Kandy, you will meet the people at the MBEI and the Director, Ven Hantane Dhammagavesi. You will then be able to determine the exact itinerary for your stay including what days you will teach, and what you will teach. A wholesome lunch will be provided by the MBEI on days which you work, as well as to EXPLORE the historic and sacred Buddhist sites around Kandy as well as the philosophy behind Buddhism.

In essence, you will be able to see the beauty of Sri Lanka with peace of mind, knowing that the uncertainty of travel will be handled by us. In case of any trouble, there will be a 24hr phone support available.
